Treat what it writes as a first draft. It works best a few paragraphs at a time, and with your own edits in between.

Creates pictures with an image program on your computer. Pictures are kept privately in this app. Adults only: requests involving anyone under 18 are refused, and never use real people.

Characters

Tick who's in the picture. Their description is added and their face is matched to the reference. Bios also help the writer keep characters straight.

One-time setup on the computer

Download Forge (1.9 GB):

Right-click the downloaded file → Extract All (or use 7-Zip) into a folder like C:\Forge.
In that folder, open webui\webui-user.bat with Notepad and change the set COMMANDLINE_ARGS= line to:

Save and close.
Download an image model into webui\models\Stable-diffusion. Fast one (2.1 GB):

Forge has a bug that stops it from letting Confidant in. Open PowerShell in the Forge folder (click the folder's address bar, type powershell, press Enter) and run:

Run it again if you ever use update.bat.
Double-click update.bat once, then run.bat. The first start takes a few minutes. When a browser page for Forge opens, it's ready; leave the black window open.
Back here, open Image settings → Test connection.
For character faces: download the face-reference model (98 MB) into webui\models\ControlNet:
huggingface.co/h94/IP-Adapter/resolve/main/models/ip-adapter-plus-face_sd15.safetensors
then restart Forge. The first character picture downloads a 2.5 GB helper automatically, so it takes a while once.
To fix hands and faces automatically: in Forge open Extensions → Install from URL, paste https://github.com/Bing-su/adetailer, tap Install, then close and restart Forge. Confidant uses it by itself from then on.
For the reference library, download two more models into webui\models\ControlNet, then restart Forge:

Forge uses up to 3 references per picture: a pose, an outfit or scene, and character faces share those 3.

Paste any text to see how much it sounds like you. Typical AI words show in red, familiar stock phrases are underlined in orange, and words you've never used in your writing are underlined.

Reading voice For a more natural voice, download one free on your iPhone: Settings → Accessibility → Read & Speak → Voices → English, then pick one marked Premium or Enhanced (Ava and Zoe are good). Reopen the app and choose it here. Speed Read replies aloud automatically

Model

Use the AI on my computer Runs a much bigger, uncensored model in Ollama on your laptop, so the writing is far better. When this is on, the phone models below aren't used.

One-time setup on the computer

Install Ollama from ollama.com (free).
Open PowerShell and run:
setx OLLAMA_ORIGINS "https://castlebayne.github.io"
This lets Confidant talk to Ollama.
Quit Ollama (right-click its llama icon near the clock → Quit) and open it again.
In PowerShell, download the model (about 7.5 GB):
Download the writing model too (about 7.5 GB). It copies your style much more closely:
Turn on the switch above and tap Test connection. If the browser asks to access devices on your network, tap Allow.
